| Visa related information |
Normally it takes around 2-4 months to get the Swedish Visa from the date you applied, depending on the workload on the Swedish Migration Board.
The Swedish Visa is acceptable in all the Schengen states that mean you can travel to other Schengen states and stay there for a period less than 3 months without requiring their respective Visas. But you are not allowed to work in any of the Schengen states based on the Swedish Visa.
- You need to attach a bank statement in your name which shows 10 months expenses equals to 73000 SEK (last year it was 63000 SEK) in your account. So if we make a calculation of that in Rs. assuming a Rs. 8 for a SEK than it comes down to 560,000/-. So a safe amount of money to show would be Rs. 6 Lakh. When applying for a 1.5 years of Masters degree a bank statement of Rs 800,000/- is now preferred by the embassy.
- Do also make sure that you apply for a visa of one year or if you are applying for a visa greater than 1 year than multiply 7300 SEK with 18 and than make your calculations. In any case apply for at least a one year visa because if you don’t have a one year visa than you will not be able to get a personal number from the Swedish Tax Office and than you will not be medically insured.
- The visa officer can ask you that you are so young and how did you gather so much money. For this you will need to have a letter that your Father or Uncle (preferably Father) is paying for your education and he will sponsor you.
- You also need a statement from your father or Uncle (whosoever supports you) that he has the following relation with the person in question and he has the following number of other children, out of which how many are dependent and how many are independent. Also he will write about his source of income and provide information that proves that he can support you without any trouble. All of these statements can be typed on a blank white page indicating the ID Card number and name of the person. Also attaching a photocopy of ID card is a good thing.
- It is useless to take along property papers with you since they are concerned only with hard cash that you have in a bank account which they assume will be transferred to a Swedish account when you move to Sweden.
- Also keep in mind that you should have a positive attitude. The person across the window is not your enemy but he has to do his job. He has to make sure that you have the required funds of 7300 SEK / month and that you can afford yourself and not become a liability of any kind for the Swedish government.
